Panerai “The Luminor Trittico”. Status: sold


Exceedingly rare Panerai ref 6152-1 supplied to the Polizia di Stato, the Italian Police. Rolex movement and Panerai Crown device. Only 64 produced with these features and only 33 with “Luminor Panerai” dials like the present one. The “P.S. 02” engraved on the case back means that it was the second one assigned to the Polizia di stato. Panerai period leather strap. The watch was assigned, accompanied by the Wrist Compass, signed Panerai and the Depth Gauge, signed Luminor Panerai. Manufactured in 1955.

Around 1936, the Royal Italian Navy asked Panerai to create a watch resistant to extreme underwater conditions . The prototype, now known as “Radiomir”, was submitted to the First Submarine Group Command. In 1949 Radiomir was replaced by a new self-luminous substance called “Luminor” which was made with Tritium.
