Amazing example of A-Series steel Royal Oak ref. 5402 manufactured in 1972. Definitely one of Gerald Genta’s masterpieces, Royal Oak was introduced to the market in 1972 breaking all the previous rules of watchmaking design. At the time, it was also the most expensive stainless steel watch ever made. The number 246 on the caseback is indicating that the present Royal Oak was the 246th produced. This amazing A-Series specimen carries a gorgeous dark honeycomb dial with luminous white gold hands and hour markers and the “AP” logo at 6 o’clock position. Finally, the Gay-Frères déployant clasp is also signed Audemars Piguet.
