Exceptional example of Patek Philippe ref. 5565 in stainless steel, manufactured in 2006. A Limited Edition timepiece honoring the legendary Calatrava model, the present specimen features a two-tone silver dial with a satin-finished central seconds subdial. The Arabic numerals are made of solid gold and treated in black nickel. The manual 215 PS movement is carefully protected by a screw-down case back, featuring an engraving depicting the historic Patek Philippe building, carrying 3 important dates: 1839, the founding of the firm. 1892, restoration of the building. 2006, renovation and redesign of the building. Preserved in mint condition.
The reference 5565 is the sole reinterpretation of the iconic Calatrava model ref. 565, initially launched on 27th of October 1938. After a year of research, in 2006, Patek Philippe brought to life the reference 5565 to mark the inauguration of the house’s “Salons Patek Philippe” in Geneva. Keeping the original dimensions of 36mm, the reference was produced in a limited quantity of 300 pieces. In order to ensure that this model would never again be created, Patek Philippe destroyed the tools and dies used to produce it.
