Amazing 18k white gold Patek Philippe Beta 21 ref 3587/1, manufactured in 1971. Preserved in spectacular condition, the present Patek “Beta 21” carries a rare deep blue dial, which perfectly balances with the white gold case and bracelet.
In the end of the 1960’s, the Swiss watch industry faced an extremely critical moment caused by the wave of cheap quartz watches coming from Japan. Patek Philippe along with 19 other brands including Rolex, Omega and Piaget set up the CEH (Centre Electronique Horloger) and developed a high-end Swiss quartz movement. In 1966 the Beta-1 was introduced and three years later, it was followed by the iconic Beta-21 in 1969: this movement was accurate to an unbeatable five seconds per month.
Patek Philippe introduced ref 3587/1 in 1970 housing this now cult movement. It is estimated that only 24 Ref. 3587/1 were made and the present example is being part of a very few featuring a blue dial.
