Exceedingly rare Rolex ref. 6150 manufactured in the beginning of 1953.
Reference 6150 in steel was the very first Rolex to carry an Explorer dial.
The early examples of 6150 are featuring the “Precision” writing, as the present one, and are known as “Pre-Explorer”.
The amazing chapter ring gilt dial is preserved in outstanding condition and it is enhanced by the original gilt hands and the lollipop centre seconds.
Accompanied by its charming Rolex box.
Definitely a trophy watch for collectors of rare sports timepieces.
The “Explorer” writing first appeared on the dial after May 1953 to celebrate the expedition of Sir Edmund Hillary and Norgay who reached the summit of Mount Everest.
