Incredibly rare Rolex Submariner ref. 6536/6538 manufactured in 1955. Produced for one year only in 1955, reference 6536 is amongst the earliest of all Submariners. The present specimen is the rarest one since it is a double reference 6536/6538: definitely a transitional example, as the case back displays the number 6536, along with 6538 crossed out by Rolex.
The Red depth rating gives the final touch of rarity: only the earliest examples were carrying the Red 100/330 designation. The wonderful gilt chapter ring “Swiss” dial is featuring a charming grainy patina and the radium plots have aged with a warm ivory tone perfectly combined with the gilt hands and seconds lollipop.
Moreover the amazing black bezel is perfectly preserved improving the charisma and desirability of this extraordinary “no crown guards” Submariner. Approximately 10 examples with these particular features have appeared on the market.
